Greg Clements launched the practice in partnership with his wife ,Val, in 1996. At the time he had been working for a large national hearing aid retailer and was motivated by the strong belief that he could do a better job for the clientele as an independent practitioner. Some twenty years on he is not shaken in this belief which was recently vindicated by the results of a Which report concerning hearing care provision, wherein the independent sector (often small service providers such as ourselves) outperformed both the NHS and all the large national chains. This report is readily available online or in the Which magazine and you can read more about it on our blog.
That said, and even with several thousand successful hearing aid fittings under his belt,Greg believes he must constantly upgrade his knowledge of hearing aid technology and fitting procedures to enable him to offer the best possible in clinic experience to clients seeking his advice. Recently he has successfully undertaken courses in micro suction wax removal techniques at University College London and practice development at the Unitron Unite University in Manchester.
Originally a Business Studies graduate of the University of Cape Town, Greg has been involved in the audiology profession since 1985, qualified as a Hearing Aid Audiologist in 1993, is registered to practice by the Health and Care Professions Council and is a Fellow of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists. Greg’s wife, Val recently retired as co-director of the practice. Although retired, the impact she had on the business remains obvious and vibrant.
Neil McCurrach is Audiology Manager for parent company, Black & Lizars. As part of Clements’ integration into Black & Lizars, Neil has formed a strong working relationship with Greg to ensure the meticulously high standards of the practice are continued. Neil has a wealth of experience in the field of Audiology, allowing him to provide an excellent standard of service which has become synonymous with Clements Hearing Service. Neil will be working alongside Greg and the rest of our team as we continue to develop the practice into a centre of excellence.
Angela joined us last year following a career break during which she devoted her time to a growing family and spent several years in the United States. We thought it was about time that we introduced her.
As a Chartered Librarian she has extensive experience in administration. Her organisational and people handling skills were immediately apparent to us upon her starting. Angela has so taken to her role with us, that we have offered to sponsor her further education in the hearing field.
Later this year we hope she will be enrolling in the Diploma in Higher Education in Hearing Aid Audiology at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. We believe that she will be an excellent asset to both ourselves and more importantly, our customers.
We are indeed delighted to welcome her.
Sara also joined us last year, having enjoyed a career in sales and customer service and more recently as a self employed gift retailer.
She is delighted to be part of a team whose primary focus is the delivery of top class service and in the short time she has been with us has demonstrated her commitment to this goal. In her spare time Sara is a keen runner.
Our constant aim is to deliver excellent service technically and personally, and hopefully if you contact us as a new or existing client that is what you will receive. If not, please let us know and we'll do our utmost to put things right.
