A while ago we wrote about a young lady we were looking after for ear wax removal in Glasgow. Jade McGoldrick came to us because of ear wax build up problems, but her story, easy smile and indomitable spirit gave us much more than we could ever do for her. We mentioned at the time that she had been playing wheelchair tennis for just two years but her prowess had helped her qualify for the Scottish Girl’s Wheel Chair Tennis team.
She competed in the Scottish Disability Sports School Games in Loughborough in September for the very first time (www.2016schoolgames.com). Jade did herself proud by bringing home the Bronze in the Doubles event. An amazing victory for a young lady who was competing at this level for the very first time.
Later in September, Jade and a chosen few were invited to SSE Hydro for Tennis group drills with Andy & Judy Murray and Kevin Simpson GB coach Scotland. With a special appearance from Gordon Reid who won gold at Rio playing wheelchair tennis. As you can imagine Jade was exceptionally excited to meet Andy Murray and more so to meet Gordon Reid.
This young girl has gone amazingly far in two short years, but she doesn't plan on stopping there. She still plans for the Paralympics in 2020 and we really don't doubt she will be there.
Once again Jade will be representing Scotland at the national schools reunion with the chance to play both singles and double early December in Cheltenham. We wish her every luck and we will update you on her progress.
