We came across a Paper published in the British Medical Journal that said that there were significant problems regularly associated with ear syringing. The problems were a complete failure to remove wax (29%), otitis media (ear infection) (17%), perforation of the ear drum (15%), and trauma to the external ear canal (11%).
Funnily enough, it was actually a Scottish study, it was undertaken as a postal survey of 312 practising G.P.s in the Edinburgh area who were serving 650,000 Patients. These rather frightening figures persuaded us that microsuction earwax removal was a service we needed to offer.
Of course, modern irrigation methods of earwax removal are far safer than the old ear syringing method, however, sometimes and for some Patients it is not the preferable method. This is why we introduced microsuction earwax removal to our Practice as quickly as we could become qualified to undertake it.
Safe, effective and most of all comfortable, earwax removal in the comfort of our Practice. Microsuction involves no introduction of liquid to the ear canal which completely ensures that no infection is introduced or that there is no chance of over pressure bursting the eardrum. So what exactly happens during micro-suction earwax removal? Take a look at the video below:
Because we can clearly see what we are doing through the microscope the chance of injury to the ear canal or eardrum is greatly reduced. We use a special seat/table that allows us to work while you relax. We are committed to ensuring that we offer cutting edge services to our Patients, that is why we invested in the best equipment available to provide the service. For us, the decision to introduce microsuction earwax removal to our Practice was an easy one.
